Rules of using roleprep.ai
Last updated: April 19, 2026
These terms govern your use of roleprep.ai. By using the site, the API, or the MCP server, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What the service does
roleprep.ai takes a job description and a resume and returns a structured brief: a fit score, overlaps, gaps, a prep plan, and learning resources. The analysis is generated by large language models. It is not professional career advice, not recruiter advice, and not a guarantee of any outcome.
Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old. You must provide accurate information when signing in. If you sign in through a magic link, you are responsible for keeping your email account secure. Anyone who controls your inbox can take over your account.
Accounts and sign-in
We do not use passwords. Accounts are created the first time you complete a magic link or connect a third-party AI client through OAuth. You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing hello@roleprep.ai. We may close or suspend an account that abuses the service.
Acceptable use
Do not do any of the following:
- Do not scrape, automate, or overload the service. Specific rate limits are set out in the Rate limits and fair use section below. Do not try to evade them.
- Do not upload other people's personal information unless you have permission. Do not upload resumes that are not yours or that contain information about third parties who have not consented.
- Do not submit content that is illegal, infringing, hateful, or designed to harass another person.
- Do not probe or attack the service. This includes penetration testing without prior written permission, credential stuffing, or attempting to bypass authentication, quota, or admin controls.
- Do not use the output to train a competing model or to resell the service as your own.
Your content
You keep ownership of the resumes and job descriptions you upload. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit that content to the LLM providers, database host, and email provider listed in our Privacy Policy, solely to deliver the analysis back to you. That license ends when you delete the analysis or your account.
AI output
The fit score, overlaps, gaps, prep plan, and resources are generated by an AI model. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Treat them as a starting point for your own research and judgment. You are responsible for what you do with the output, including any decisions about applying for a job, preparing for an interview, or changing your resume.
roleprep.ai is not a recruiter, employer, employment agency, or career counselor. We do not place candidates and we do not evaluate candidates on behalf of employers.
MCP and third-party clients
We expose an MCP server so you can run analyses from Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, or other AI clients that support MCP OAuth. When you connect a client, you authorize it to run analyses on your behalf and read the results of analyses you created. Revoke access at any time by emailing hello@roleprep.ai. We are not responsible for what a third-party client does with your data once you have connected it.
Rate limits and fair use
The current service is free. To preserve availability for all users, protect the operator's third-party service providers, and prevent abuse, roleprep.ai enforces the rate limits set out below. These limits are technical controls and form part of these Terms. Attempting to evade them is a breach.
- Analyses. Anonymous visitors are limited to one resume-against-job-description analysis per source IP address per rolling twenty-four-hour window. This limit applies uniformly to the web application, the public HTTP API, and anonymous tool calls issued through the MCP server from the same source IP.
- Sign-in link requests.Requests to the magic-link endpoint at /api/auth/login are limited to five requests per source IP address and three requests per target email address, each measured on a rolling one-hour window. This limit exists to prevent unsolicited email to third parties and to protect the operator's email delivery provider.
- Administrative blocks. The operator may block a source IP address from any or all endpoints for abuse, security incidents, or violation of these Terms. Blocked requests are rejected without further notice.
The operator reserves the right to change, tighten, relax, or remove any quota at any time, to introduce paid tiers with differentiated limits, and to restrict or disable specific endpoints or features. Signed-in accounts and authenticated MCP clients may receive differentiated quotas at the operator's discretion. Material changes to free-tier allowances affecting signed-in users will be announced in advance where practical.
Circumventing these limits by rotating IP addresses, rotating email addresses, distributing requests across multiple clients, scripting the interface, or any other technical or procedural means is expressly prohibited and may result in account suspension or termination under the Termination section.
Intellectual property
The roleprep.ai name, logo, site copy, UI design, skill taxonomy, prompt templates, and source code are owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, reuse, or redistribute them without written permission. The analyses produced for you are yours to use for your own job preparation.
Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. You can ask us to delete your data by emailing hello@roleprep.ai. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, abuse the service, or create legal or security risk. We will try to give notice where it is safe and practical to do so.
Disclaimers
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that the analyses will be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, roleprep.ai and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is capped at the greater of the amount you have paid us in the prior twelve months or fifty US dollars.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
Changes
We may update these terms. If the change is material, we will update the date at the top and notify signed-in users by email. Continued use of the service after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
